Penny Stocks Hot Picks

If you've had any experience in the world of micro-cap or penny stock investing, you've likely seen penny stocks hot picks being offered by a variety of sites. It can be difficult to discern which sites are offering good picks and which should be disregarded. This is especially true for the beginning investor. Therefore, before ever investing any money in penny stocks a new investor should learn as much as he or she can on this subject so they can invest with confidence. Another rule of thumb in the world of penny stock investing is never invest money you cannot afford to lose.

Penny stocks are the name used to describe stocks under $5 that are not traded on the major exchanges such as NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange. They are traded on what is known as the Over the Counter Bulletin Board, or OTCBB and/or the Pink Sheets. The Pink Sheets is named for the color paper that was used for printing the stock quotes in the past. Penny stock companies are not required to file as many reports as companies trading on major exchanges. Therefore less is known about many of them. If you don't know enough about a company it is hard to know whether you should buy their stock or not.

Of course, there can be big rewards with trading penny stocks. If there weren't, no one would do it. Penny stocks can be dramatically altered by only a few cents. If the stock rises or falls only a little, you may stand to make big profits or lose a lot of money. It's definitely not an investment vehicle for the faint of heart. The key when it comes to investing in penny stocks is to gather as much information as you can and get advice from experts who are experienced in profiting from penny stocks.

Knowing which so-called expert advice to follow is another risky matter. Before taking someone's advice on penny stock hot picks, find out more about them. Do they have a strong history of picking winning stocks? If so, you can be more confident in their advice. You may want to look for information on penny stock trading forums. Obtaining advice from more experienced traders can help a new investor gain wisdom and confidence which is important when trading anything, including penny stocks.
